APPLICATIONS ENGINEER: HEAVY EQUIPMENT

A DIRECT-HIRE POSITION with Excellent Benefits

INDUSTRY: MANUFACTURING

LOCATION:  NORFOLK, VA

SALARY: $60K - $90K

 

SUMMARY:

The Applications Engineer will support Sales and Marketing of trucks and excavators nationally and internationally. He or she will be the designated corporate expert in mining techniques and the application of the Company's products in the mining industry.  

  • Provide technical assistance to Sales personnel and Customers
  • Visit customer mining sites to make presentations and offer technical assistance
  • Conduct truck haulage simulations using Runge TALPAC software
  • Estimate heavy equipment production rates, haulage, and cost per ton
  • Maintain excavator and truck loading charts
  • Maintain fuel consumption data
  • Offer technical sales training to staff members
  • Support Marketing with development of marketing products, advertising, and promotional materials
  • Participate in mining industry trade shows

 

 REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S. degree in Mining Engineering (preferred), or B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 3 years of experience as Applications Engineer in Heavy Equipment Manufacturing. (Entry Level candidates may be considered, if they meet the minimum qualifications)
  • Ability to provide technical assistance in the use or application of Company's products
  • Must have experience using Runge TALPAC mining software (or ability to learn)
  • Must be able to perform truck haulage simulations using Runge TALPAC software
  • Must be able to estimate production rates, haulage, cost per ton
  • Must have an understanding of the mining industry, specifically the surface mining methods
  • Understanding of the application of mining machinery and equipment
  • Knowledge of global sales strategy related to mining equipment
  • Ability to give presentations to staff and customers
  • Develop and present technical training to staff
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Knowledge of Project Management software
  • Ability to visit mining sites worldwide
  • Must have driver's license
  • Able to obtain a passport
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time, domestically and internationally for up to 4 weeks at a time.
